Ham Radio Hub at SecretCon 2026

Come Find Us at SecretCon

The Ham Radio Village is bringing radios, RF, and hands-on wireless experimentation to SecretCon 2026.

Whether you’re licensed or just curious, stop by the Ham Radio Hub to see how communication works beyond Wi-Fi and cell networks. We’ll have live stations, demos, and people ready to help you get on the air.

No experience required—just curiosity.

What You’ll See

  • Live HF Station – Make a contact or see how long-distance radio works
  • SSTV Demos – Watch images transmitted over RF in real time
  • Local RF Activity – Bring a radio and join in
  • HamStack Deployment – Our portable RF + network stack in action

Operators will be around all day to walk you through everything.

CONHAM Quick Reference

Bringing a radio? Here are some common meetup and calling frequencies:

  • Simplex: - 146.580 MHz
  • SSTV: - 447.800 MHz

Listen first, be respectful, and QSY as needed.

Why Visit?

  • No experience necessary – we welcome everyone from total beginners to Extra-class operators
  • Hands-on learning – don't just listen, get on the air and transmit
  • Free to visit – the hub is open to all SecretCon attendees
  • Hack the spectrum – learn how RF skills complement your security tool kit

Want to Help Out?

We’re always looking for people to help make the village run.

You don’t need to be an expert—just willing to engage, learn, and contribute.

Open Positions

Village Staff

Village staff handle running the village itself as well as the fox hunt contest table. Duties vary and include providing demos, talking with and answering questions from attendees, and running the fox hunt contest. During your shifts you may be using your own gear, village-owned gear, or gear from another volunteer (with their permission). This is a great chance to showcase what YOU love about ham radio as ambassadors of the hobby!

Volunteer Examiner

Volunteer Examiners help run the ham radio license exams. To be a VE, you must hold a General or Amateur Extra class license in the US.
